Our Promise

By providing a safe space we will offer support and increase self-advocacy and culturally competent services. We will welcome and encourage other community members and organizations to participate in the Center. We look to them to provide services such as HIV/STD testing, health and mental health screenings.

We will help educate our local schools and the community on the importance of Gay Straight Alliances (GSA) in our schools.

“The Uplift center is a place where I’ve made life long friends who understand what it’s like to be the way that I am and it means the world to me.”

Uplift Outreach Center is open every Tuesday & Saturday for ages 15-19 from 3:30 pm until 6:30 pm and every Saturday for ages 10-14 from 1-3 pm

Center hours may fluctuate. Please contact us, follow us on Facebook & Instagram or sign up for emails for up to date open hours.

We are always in need of volunteers to supervise the kids that visit us. If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out this form.

LGBTQ+ Youth Support Group

This group is facilitated by licensed therapist, Theresa Gomes, LMFT from Anchoring Within LLC. The youth support group meets the first Thursday each month at the SCC Downtown Campus in the Arkwright Room from 7 – 8pm.

Parents are encouraged to attend PFLAG Spartanburg’s monthly Peer Support Group held at the same time.

Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is to provide a much-needed safe space for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults/adults in Spartanburg, SC and surrounding areas.

We are committed to creating an environment shared by community leaders who will assist us in providing community resources.

We envision increasing advocacy of LGBTQ+ by providing education to the community and organizations such as schools, health and mental health programs.

Especially youth who have a limited voice.
