Upstate center serving LGBTQ youth works to expand amid federal funding cuts

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A center in the Upstate serving individuals in the LGBTQ+ community is asking for the public's help to advance their mission.

Uplift Outreach Center in Spartanburg serves more than 300 young people who identify as LGBTQ across ten counties in the Upstate, according to program director, Jodi Snyder. Snyder told 7NEWS a lot of the individuals who visit the center are struggling.

"You know, and I think it's important to know that the adults are here, but like, we're not here to tell them what to do," Snyder explained. "We're not here to censor them. We are here to support them and give them resources and show them that there are safe adults in their corner."
